Simple guy in shuk sings beautiful melody to yerushalayim shel zahav
Name of Jew-Doer: Anonymous Shuk Man
Occupation of Jew-Doer: Simple guy
Description
I was walking through the shuk like I do nearly every day, except this time, I heard the most beautiful melody rising above all the sounds of the market. I followed the sound and found a man sitting by himself with a tarbuka in hand singing Jerusalem of Gold in a melody that I had never heard before.. I looked into his eyes and asked him what he was doing... He replied, "I was inspired. I felt the song in my soul and that I had to come sing it and share with others."
I know the usual shuk scene, but I had never seen this man. He wasn't homeless or jobless... He had simply been filled with the spirit of the song and felt compelled to reach others. And indeed, everyone who walked by turned their head to listen... and were perhaps inspired. I know I was.
How remarkable. Just goes to show that there are amazing things all around us. We just have to stop and listen.
